Portrait of Karen Bexfield

Karen Bexfield

Karen Bexfield is an award-winning glass artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, known for intricate kiln-formed glass sculptures inspired by nature. She holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia and began working in glass in 2003, finding both disciplines cerebral, intuitive, and tactile. Her work has been shown at SOFA Chicago, CONTEXT Art Miami, Art Palm Springs, and Art New York. She is a two-time NICHE Award winner and has been a Bullseye Artist in Residence and a Professional Artist in Residence (PAIRS).

Bexfield shapes glass by controlling mass, heat, and time, letting the material move just enough to create organic patterns where simple geometry meets chance. Her sculptures look delicate but are strong in form, and light passing through them casts shadows that become part of the work. Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, represents Karen Bexfield's glass sculpture.
