JOSH BROWN
Creating with Nature's Palette
Artist Josh Brown is well known for his minimal but graceful approach in portraying animals on the canvas. The wildlife that he chooses to depict vary from giraffes, owls, zebras, seagulls, cows and more. The most consistent element of his work is the sophisticated style that he paints within. There is something very bold about painting such recognizable wildlife in a very subtle and soft way. The juxtaposition makes for an interesting viewing experience every time.
Josh Brown has dedicated his life to creating art. Having gotten his start at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) as a full scholarship athlete on the soccer team, he had the chance to find his signature voice on the canvas. Not only did his time at SCAD help nurture his painting and sculpting skills, it also provided him the opportunity to discover his interest in design and fashion. He worked as a model for photography and runway with coaching by Mrs. J. Alexander for the SCAD annual runway show. It is the culmination of this sort of immersion into the world of art and design that has helped shape the artist that Josh Brown is known as today.
A career in art is oftentimes an avenue artists can take to shed some light on causes that are close to their hearts. This is certainly the case for Josh Brown. He has helped raise funds for numerous charity groups like battered women shelters, animal rights foundations among others through his paintings.
Sculptural brush strokes and palette knives help provide a variety in depth and texture within Josh's artwork. He also is known for bringing a sense of whimsy and playfulness to his creative process. His main focus as an artist is "to inspire us to live curiously in goodwill and humor, in art and life."
