Portrait of Vincent Cordo

Vincent Cordo

Vincent Cordo is a painter from Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, born in 1972, known for mixed-media paintings that celebrate the modern woman. His figures have no specific facial features, so every woman can see herself in them. A chance meeting with painter Lysanne Pépin in Old Montreal sparked his passion for art, and a painting by Toulouse-Lautrec revealed his central subject: women and the present moment.

Drawing on a past in hospitality and a love of wine culture, Cordo paints fleeting moments of connection, when someone sits across from you before the moment slips away. Glossy varnish flows and blurs to suggest the passing of time, and a barcode on each painting marks every moment and every person as unique. He works in typography, pieces of wine crates, and stainless steel, and his Haute Couture series adds high heels and designer handbags. Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, represents Vincent Cordo.
