Portrait of Peter Kuttner

Peter Kuttner

Peter Kuttner is a painter based in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, known for layered, contemplative mixed-media paintings of florals, skies, water, and the city. Raised near Boston and along the coast of Maine, he earned his B.F.A. from the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, then worked as Art Director for New Life Films and led the graphics department of the National Museum of American Illustration before becoming a full-time artist. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest and has appeared on the television series "Two and a Half Men," "Californication," and "Nashville." It has also been shown at Spectrum Miami, the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, and the Affordable Art Fair New York.

Kuttner lets gravity, evaporation, and time shape his work, building it layer by layer until its depth emerges. His subjects include hot air balloons drifting across expansive skies, sailboats on sunlit water, orchards in bloom, and intimate florals, and his palette of cool blues, greens, warm golds, and rich reds reflects his years near the coast. His paintings are also found in hospitals and medical centers, where they bring a sense of calm. Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, represents Peter Kuttner.
