Michelle Sakhai

Michelle Sakhai is a contemporary painter with studios in New York City and Delray Beach, Florida, known for abstract oil paintings with gold and silver leaf. Born in New York, she draws on her Persian and Japanese heritage; family trips to Japan exposed her to the art of metal leaf. She studied art history and fine arts at Hofstra University and earned her M.F.A. from the Academy of Art University. Her work is in collections including Montefiore Einstein Medical Center, the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, and Kamakura Park in Japan, and her book "Awakening" showcases more than 200 of her paintings.

Rooted in the teachings of Transformative Art, Sakhai's work focuses on light, energy, and healing. She moved from plein air painting to abstract expressionism, channeling energy onto the canvas through spontaneous strokes of oil and metal leaf. Her recent work embraces bolder color and open space, and her garden in Delray Beach inspires her floral series. Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, represents Michelle Sakhai.
