Mary Borgen
Mary Borgen is a glass mosaic artist known for large-scale works in the Trencadís style, the broken-tile mosaic technique invented by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Where Gaudí used tile, Borgen uses glass. She studied fine art and art history at Parsons School of Design and Tulane University's Newcomb College, then ran a design business whose work appeared in Victoria, New York Magazine, Country Living, and Smithsonian.
Borgen developed her own glass mosaic techniques and especially loves working large. Her largest mural measures 26.5 feet wide by 9 feet tall, and clients say she paints with glass. Her work is in the collection of the Tennessee State Museum and in collections across the country. Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, represents Mary Borgen.
