Maria Laura Ribeiro

Maria Laura Ribeiro is a Brazilian-born mixed-media artist based in South Florida, known for portraits of pop culture and fashion icons embellished with crystals, gems, and gold leaf. Born in São Paulo in 1975, she grew up with constant exposure to the creative process in her mother's studio, which inspired her to master the techniques she uses today. Her work has been exhibited at the Boca Raton Museum of Art and at international art fairs including Scope, Art Palm Beach, and Art Wynwood, and it is in private collections including that of fashion icon Iris Apfel.

Ribeiro builds each portrait through a complex process that combines photo manipulation, drawing, painting, collage, gold leaf, diamond dust, and crystals and gems. Influenced by Andy Warhol and Alex Katz, she portrays inspiring figures from the past and present to keep their historical relevance alive.
