Juliette Crane
Juliette Crane is a painter based in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin, known for colorful, enchanting paintings that move between abstraction and figuration. She earned her B.F.A. from the University of Minnesota, where she studied painting and sculpture. Her work is in collections including American Girl, the Madison Arts Commission, and the Madison Public Library, and she has been featured in Glamour, Somerset Studio, and on Oprah.com. Crane has been an artist-in-residence in Wisconsin and Florida, and since 2011 she has taught painting online through her School of Happy Painting.
Crane began by dripping and splashing color and drawing out the figures she imagined in the layers. Today she builds transparent veils of luminous color from acrylic paint and mixed media to capture the inner radiance of her figures, letting marks and textures overlap to celebrate the beauty of imperfection. Her themes are imagination, memory, and nature. Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, represents Juliette Crane.
