Barrett Edwards
Barrett Edwards is a landscape painter based in Florida and Colorado, known for richly layered, textured works in oil, cold wax, and mixed media that range from representational to abstract. Born in Chicago, she is a third-generation artist whose work first drew attention in France, where her introductory exhibition at the Hôtel Talleyrand in Paris sold out. She went on to exhibit at the Salon d'Automne at the Grand Palais in Paris, and her paintings are in the permanent collection of the Steamboat Art Museum in Colorado. Her work has also appeared on screen in the USA Network series "Necessary Roughness" and the Reese Witherspoon film "The Good Lie."
Edwards layers warm and cool hues with brushes, palette knives, and sea sponges to create a sense of light and depth, often building on pairs of complementary colors. More than a decade of summers in the Colorado Rockies gave her a love of plein air painting, which she credits with bringing new energy to her studio work. She teaches oil painting workshops in Provence, Tuscany, the Bahamas, and across the U.S. Studio E Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, represents Barrett Edwards.
